Crazy Runners Cannonball Marathon

August 16 2022

Today I completed my fifth marathon this year. “Crazy Runners Cannonball Marathon” is probably telling for the participants.
The race takes place every Tuesday. Several people participate each time and then also take one at the weekend. You probably must be a little crazy to be a marathon runner. The race took place in warm summer weather in Ringsted. I was well received by nice people who, on the firsts of six laps, ensured that I would be able to manage on my own on the route. That’s how it turned out. As often happens, I ended up as the “lone wolf”, which is fine and non-committal for me.
I haven’t run so many marathons in a calendar year since 2010. It doesn’t end here, there are more to come.

The Big Five Marathon 2022

June 18 2022

June 18, 2022, became a historic day for me. The third time was the time of happiness, the hour of vengeance had come. 17 years of cursing was broken. I completed The Big Five Marathon in Entabeni South Africa. This not less than 51 minutes before the cut off time.

I felt absolutely nothing to the foot I scalded Wednesday night. There were skilled Danish doctors around me and before the race I got fresh blister patches on my toes.

It’s all amazing. I now have no black spot in my marathon book.

Icefjord Midnight Marathon

May 29 2022

Last night I completed this year’s preliminary third marathon. In Santa’s own country where the sun does not set in the summer, I ran the “Icefjord Midnight Marathon”. Snow, cold, water and rocks made it another extreme run. It was another good experience that gives memories for life.
I am now looking forward to tonight’s gala party, and then “The Big Five Marathon” in 20 days in South Africa.

Vegan Run Marathon

March 21 2022

After several days of severe diarrhea that persists yet, I completed the second marathon of the year on Sunday. It was “Vegan Run” in Kalundborg. One does not have to be vegan to participate. Maybe it would have been a benefit to my stomach if I had been.
he next race will be in Greenland.

Letting Run’s birthday run

January 29 2022

As a prelude to hurricane “Malik”, the marathon year kicked off today with Letting Run’s birthday run in Frederikssund. It was raining and windy, but still gentle.
I expect 2022 to be a good year on the classic distance.

“Run on the Manor” – Christmas marathon on Kragerup Manor

December 12 2021

After a year of ups and downs, the marathon season ended with the completion of marathon number four in 2021. Two marathon attempts were exchanged for half marathons during the year. Not since 2013 have I completed four marathons in one year.
The heel injury that has followed me through the year most recently gave me problems two weeks ago. Subsequently, I have not run until today. Luckily I did not feel anything for the injury, but the sparse training I could feel.
Today’s event was “Run on the Manor” – Christmas marathon on Kragerup Manor. Large parts of the race took place in forest area. It was muddy, cold and wet, but also a good experience. In the finish area, I received the biggest medal I have received in my life.

The Big Five Marathon 2021

November 14 2021

After heel injury and problems in Zurich with coronate test, it was Saturday, November 13, 2021, after 16 years time to take revenge with “The Big Five Marathon”, where I retired in 2005.

The Big Five Marathon is extremely tough. At the same time, November is summer in South Africa, so it was 35 degrees on the day. It was really hot. Since there are only seven hours available at the same time compared to eight hours in China, you have to fight to get through within the time limit.
I struggled and did everything right. I got plenty of fluids and did nothing I can subsequently resent.

When I had crossed the worst stretch, there were 13 kilometers left. I had barely two hours to clear the stretch. It sounds simple, but was not in the situation. I thought I could alternately run and walk 250 meters. The reality was different. I struggled until I literally signed. After 34 kilometers I was lying on the gravel path and was completely gone until another runner came who could call for assistance. In open jeep, I received drop as I was driven to the finish area’s small hospital. Here I was finished and discharged.
I received a medal for completing the half marathon. I love it and proud of it. I dedicate it to Carlo, my grandson who came into the world Thursday night while I was here. There is something that is much more important than running.

The next day I was fine. It both in the heel and other limbs. What happened during the race alone was exhaustion.

I am not bitter, but clarified with the situation. I have not regretted the journey, but am actually fine with the experiment and what came out of it.

I’m not really smart. I’m considering a third attempt because I’m still thirsty for revenge on South Africa. I am thinking of planning to go down here again in 2023. Here the race should be at the normal deadline in June. At that time it is a lot cooler. This year, the race was postponed to November due to corona.

Hans Christian Andersen Marathon 2021

September 26 2021

Today I ran my third marathon in two months. Again it was in fantastic good weather, and again it was a really good result for me.
Hans Christian Andersen Marathon in Odense is a half marathon that is completed twice. Quite unusually, I was fastest in the second round. This became my fastest marathon in 18 years.

The Forest Runner Marathon

September 5 2021

In the most beautiful autumn weather, I completed the “The Forest Runner Marathon” today, in the time that was 2 minutes and 7 seconds faster than I did in the same place in 2014.Unfortunately, this was the last time that ” The Forest Runner ” was discontinued.

Iceland Volcano Marathon

July 24 2021
The Iceland Volcano Marathon was probably the best marathon I have done in my life. I was running all the time except during the steep climbs. The time was more than two hours faster than Marathon On The Rocks last fall. The weight loss made its big impact and the recent injury was not detrimental to performance. Thanks to my therapists and those who have supported me during the injury process. I also want to pat myself on the shoulder to make the effort, to get ready and to believe in myself.
The day today was amazingly beautiful and breathtaking. This also for Karin who took a quarter marathon. The weather could not have been better.
